Welcome to the meet page for RADP-XV, our fifteenth annual meet!

This year, the fun of RADP Meets returns for another year with RADP XV, coinciding with various holiday activities at Walt Disney World.

If you are new to RADP, you may be asking yourself, "What is a RADP?" RADP stands for rec.arts.disney.parks -- a Disney parks enthusiast newsgroup where folks all around the world share tips, stories and general information regarding the Disney park experience. We get together once a year to put a face to that poster/friend we met on newsgroup. New and renewed acquaintances abound every year.

There is no membership requirement. All of our events are free (although park admission may be required) and open to Disney fans of all ages! Everyone is most welcome to attend our events. Come and join us for a single event, a whole day or the entire time. No RSVP is required, so feel free to just show up and have some fun! We all share the common bond of a love of Disney. Come meet the friends you already have but don't know yet. The 2010 meets will run from Friday, December 10th to Monday, December 13th - rain or shine but pray for shine. ;-)

RADP is an independent group of Disney fans. RADP has no official connection with any commercial enterprise or entity nor does it endorse any. RADP is not affiliated with, authorized or endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with The Walt Disney Company, Disney Enterprises, Inc., or any of their affiliates.

And a reminder - RADP is RSVP free! RSVPs are never required for RADP meets!

RADP ANIMAL KINGDOM DAY

Kiliminjaro Safari Meet 9:30am @ Animal Kingdom Location: Meet to the left of the Kilimanjaro Safari entrance Hosted by: Sean and Pamela Jambo! And welcome to the 15th Annual RADP Holiday meet! We're starting this meet off on the right foot, er...hoof...by taking a Jeep ride through the African savannah to view some of Disney's wildest wildlife! We'll see zebra, lions, warthogs and everyone in the RADP family! It's sure to be a great kick off to a great meet!

Worst of Disney With The Best of Friends Part 1: Rafiki's Planet Watch 10:30am @ Animal Kingdom Location: Meet at the entrance to the Wildlife Express train Hosted by: Julie We all love Disney. But even Disney has a few clunkers in their collection! So what could be more fun than experiencing those clunkers with your best RADP friends? Today, we're exploring Rafiki's Planet Watch, the often overlooked, mediocre-at-best, petting zoo slash veterinary clinic at the end of a very long, boring path! While we're there, we'll take in an animal presentation (we'll have to be surprised by exactly which animal we will see when we arrive), then assemble for a group photo in the creme de la creme of Disney attractions...the goat petting zoo!

Tea and Cinnamon Roll Break 12:00 noon @ Animal Kingdom Location: Royal Anandapur Tea Company Hosted by: Pamela Care for some tea and crumpets? Well, there might not actually be crumpets on the menu, but you can bet that there will be some HUGE cinnamon rolls! At noon, we'll all gather at the Royal Anandapur Tea Company for a spot of tea and a little nibble (if you consider a huge cinnamon roll to be a "little nibble"!) and enjoy each others company in the seating area by the lake. We'll have a jolly good time!

Expedition Everest Meet 2:00pm @ Animal Kingdom Location: Meet across from the Expedition Everest entrance Hosted by: Tracy and Don It's time to climb, twist, turn and drop our way through the Forbidden Mountain on our way to Mount Everest! During last year's 2009 Expedition Everest meet, RADP was unfortunately stalked throughout the ride by a frightening yeti. Though they were soaking wet and extremely frightened, the intrepid adventurers made it out safely. We would once again like to apologize for this safety oversight and assure all meet attendees that the same type of incident will almost certainly not happen during the 2010 meet. Right?

Jungle Jingle Mingle - Take 2 3:30pm @ Animal Kingdom Location: Dawa Bar Hosted by: Kevin Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade has Harambe decked out in its holiday finest! So we're pausing to enjoy this people-pleasing holiday parade from just outside the Dawa Bar in Africa at 3:30pm. Anyone wanting a little additional "holiday cheer" can pick up a festive drink at the bar while enjoying this colorful Christmas caravan.

RADP EPCOT DAY

Soarin' Meet 9:15am @ Epcot Location: Meet at the main entrance of The Land Hosted by: Laurie We're going soarin' on an unforgettable journey high above the Golden State, so don't be late for this very important date! At 9:15am, we will assemble our flight crew just outside the entrance of the pavilion, and will take flight shortly after.

Worst Of Disney With The Best Of Friends Part 2: Circle of Life 10:15am @ Epcot Location: Meet at the main entrance of Circle of Life in The Land Hosted by: Kevin We all love Disney. But even Disney has a few clunkers in their collection! So what could be more fun than experiencing those clunkers with your best RADP friends? Today, we're watching Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable. If long, boring, outdated movies are the way you enjoy spending your time in the Happiest Place on Earth, this meet is just for you! And if you're feeling worn out from waking up so early to be on time for the Soarin' meet, you can catch a few Zs during this meet as well! Hakuna Matata!

The "It's 5:00 Somewhere!" Tequila Meet 11:30am @ Epcot Location: Cava del Tequila in the Mexico Pavilion Hosted by: Catherine Like Jimmy Buffet says, it's 5:00 somewhere! So at 11:30am, we'll make a bee line to the Mexico pavilion where we can enjoy some delicious spirits and spirited conversation in the Cava del Tequila. With more than 70 different types of tequila for you to enjoy, you'll feel like you're wasting away in Margaritaville in no time! And for those of you with a less spirited palate, the Cava del Tequila also offers a variety of non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers.

The 15th Annual RADP Big Meet and Greet 1:30pm @ Epcot Location: Just outside the International Gateway turnstiles Hosted by: RADP We're celebrating fifteen fabulous years of good friends, good memories and good times at the 15th annual RADP Big Meet and Greet. This is the one time of the year where you can see all your RADP friends all together in one place, at one time! If you're new to RADP, this is an excellent chance for you to meet the family, and if you're a long time member, you'll have a great time catching up with all your friends. The meet lasts until everyone decides to leave, which is usually at least an hour!

Captain E-O Meet 4:00pm @ Epcot Location: Meet outside the entrance of Captain E-O Hosted by: Carol After a 16 year hiatus, RADP is proud to announce our first ever Captain E-O meet! The meet for this electrifying three-dimensional event* will take place at 4:00pm just outside the entrance to the Imagination pavilion. There will be exciting dance sequences*! There will be an amazing array of special effects*! There will be pyrotechnic lighting effects in the theater*! We promise that it will be a musical space fantasy* that you can experience nowhere else in the universe!* *cheesy description courtesy of Disney, 1986. Actual effects may vary in 2010

Main Street Electrical Parade 8:30pm @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet in front of the Liberty Square Riverboat entrance Hosted by: Sean Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, RADP proudly presents Disney's spectacular pageant of nighttime magic and imagination in thousands of sparkling lights and electrosynthomagnetic musical sounds, The Main Street Electrical Parade! For prime viewing, please plan on arriving no later than 8:30pm directly in front of the entrance to the Liberty Square Riverboat. We're doing this meet on Saturday because Sunday night is a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12th, 2010
RADP MAGIC KINGDOM DAY

Bakery Breakfast 9:00am @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet in the seating area across from Plaza Restaurant after purchasing breakfast Hosted by: Laurie It's time to rise and shine, and fuel up with a pastry from the Main street Bakery. You'll need the energy for a day packed with all kinds of RADP fun! Feel free to grab your breakfast then meet all your RADP pals in the seating area directly in front of the Plaza restaurant for a few minutes of mingle time before we head off to the Splash and Big Thunder Mountain meet!

Hall of Presidents Meet 11:30am @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet at the Liberty Bell in Liberty Square Hosted by: Kevin We all love the mediocre presidents, and now it's time to show your patriotism. We're honoring James K. Polk, Millard Fillmore, William Henry Harrison, Franklin Pierce, Calvin Coolidge, and Chester Arthur during what promises to be a much more than mediocre meet! Each attendee will be randomly given a president to support, and when your president is announced during the show, it's your chance to show your support in any boisterous way you know how! You most certainly do NOT have to be American to show a little love to six of America's finest mediocre presidents!

Pirates and Pineapples Meet 2:00pm @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet outside the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean Hosted by: Don Ahoy mateys! It's time for a cruise through the Caribbean, pirate style! Get ready to dodge cannonballs, traverse water falls and encounter and entire host of scurvy pirates, featuring none other than Jack Sparrow himself! Then after our cruise we'll head to the nearby Aloha Isle for a cool Dole Whip and some time to relax before our Stitch's Great Escape meet!

Worst Of Disney With The Best Of Friends Part 3: Stitch's Great Escape 3:30pm @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet outside the entrance of Stitch's Great Escape Hosted by: Kevin We all love Disney. But even Disney has a few clunkers in their collection! So what could be more fun than experiencing those clunkers with your best RADP friends? Today, we're experiencing Stitch's Great Escape, which is an attraction that is generally regarded as one of the WORST Disney has ever made! Uncomfortable seating, long periods of random darkness and that ever so wonderful chili dog burp smell all combine to make this a truly regrettable attraction. Hence all of RADP will have a terrific time experiencing it together!

10 Year Anniversary Mini TTA Ride-A-Thon 4:30pm @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet at the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover entrance Hosted by: Julie A WHAT?! A time machine, that's what! And we're taking a ride on the RADP time machine all the way back to the year 2000. 2010 marks ten years since the legendary all-day TTA Ride-a-thon held in December of 2000. So to celebrate what turned out to be one of the longest, most memorable and most controversial RADP meets ever held, we're hosting a mini TTA Ride-a-thon! We'll ride five consecutive times (which is 1/10th of the distance traveled in the original Ride-a-thon), and there is sure to be mischief, a little bit of yelling and chanting, and LOTS of fun! Two door prizes will even be given away! Missing this meet is sure to RUIN your Disney vacation!

IllumiNations Meet 9:00pm @ Epcot Location: Meet along the lagoon in front of the Norway pavilion Hosted by: Catherine To cap off an eventful day at the Magic Kingdom, we're hopping back over to Epcot to end the day with a showing of the beautiful IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. We'll be meeting in the viewing area directly across from the Kringla Bakeria in Norway beginning at roughly 9:00pm. Whether this is viewing number 1 or 1001, you'll certainly enjoy the lights, music and lasers while spending time with your RADP friends!

MONDAY, DECEMBER 13th, 2010
RADP HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS DAY

Toy Story Mania Fastpass 9:00am @ Hollywood Studios Heads up soldiers! If you plan on riding during our 4:00pm Toy Story Mania meet, make sure to head directly to Toy Story Mania and pick up a Fastpass before going to the Rock N Roller coaster and Tower of Terror meet!

Rock n Roller Coaster / Tower of Terror Meet 9:30am @ Hollywood Studios Location: Meet in the Rock N Roller Coaster courtyard Hosted by: Jan, Charlotte and Tracy It's that time again! Time for RADP to go from the depths of the Twilight Zone to the hills of Hollywood at our 12th annual Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror meet! We'll all gather in the Rock N Roller Coaster courtyard at 9:30am before going over to Tower of Terror and taking the service elevator straight to the Twilight Zone! As soon as everyone has made their way safely back, our Rock N Roller Coaster super stretch limo will be departing for a thrilling ride to an Aerosmith concert. Even those who aren't so fond of all the thrills and chills will still have a nice time visiting with their RADP friends during this meet!

Worst Of Disney With The Best Of Friends Part 4: Studios Backlot Tour 11:00am @ Hollywood Studios Location: Meet outside the entrance of the Studios Backlot Tour Hosted by: Kevin We all love Disney. But even Disney has a few clunkers in their collection! So what could be more fun than experiencing those clunkers with your best RADP friends? Today, we're riding the Studio Backlot Tour, which is currently a shadow of its former glory. In its heyday, you could see actual studio production, as well as numerous famous home facades and movie props. Now, all you see is the backside of water in Catastrophe Canyon and a few glimpses of the Lights, Motors, Action stunt show theater. If you're lucky, you may even see the water tank show! But that's questionable these days. So pull up a bench and join RADP on this 25 minute ride into mediocrity.

Bad Santa Tacky Gift Exchange 2:00pm @ Hollywood Studios Location: Backlot Cantina, near the entrance of the Studio Backlot Tour Hosted by: Julie It seems like every year, you get that one gift that's just so tacky that you can't bring yourself to use it. Well, this year we're giving you a chance to regift those tacky gifts to your unsuspecting RADP friends! Everyone who wants to participate can bring a $5 tacky gift from home (or if you'd rather buy something when you arrive, $5 Disney gifts are welcome as well), and we'll all exchange gifts "Bad Santa" style! Please have everything either wrapped or in a bag so each gift is a surprise! When the time comes, we'll put all the gifts into a pile and pull them out one by one so no one knows what tacky gift they will get!

Toy Story Mania Meet 4:00pm @ Hollywood Studios Location: Meet at the Speak and Spell in Pixar Place across from the FastPass machines Hosted by: JackM Reach for the sky! And get your trigger arm ready to fire eggs, darts, pies, rings and baseballs at this fast paced, competitive meet! We'll be splitting into groups of two to determine who has the best aim in the toy box, and the winner gets bragging rights for an entire year! Arrive with your game face on, but please, no angry eyes! In order to ride during this meet, please ensure that you have a FastPass with a return time of 4:00pm or earlier.

Mini Golf Meet 8:00pm @ Disney's WinterSummerland Mini Golf Course Hosted by: Sean and Pamela What's more fun than a game of mini golf? How about a game of mini golf played with all your favorite RADP friends? The last hurrah for the RADP 15 holiday meet will be our fabulous annual mini golf meet, which will take place at the Winter Summerland golf course near Blizzard Beach. Whether you have a lot of golfing skill or none at all, you'll still have a good time goofing off on these holiday themed courses as we putt our way through Santa's summer hideaway.
