Welcome to the meet page for RADP-XVII, our seventeenth annual meet!

This year, the fun of RADP Meets returns for another year with RADP XVII, coinciding with various holiday activities at Walt Disney World.

If you are new to RADP, you may be asking yourself, "What is a RADP?" RADP stands for rec.arts.disney.parks -- a Disney parks enthusiast newsgroup where folks all around the world share tips, stories and general information regarding the Disney park experience. We get together once a year to put a face to that poster/friend we met on newsgroup. New and renewed acquaintances abound every year.

There is no membership requirement. All of our events are free (although park admission may be required) and open to Disney fans of all ages! Everyone is most welcome to attend our events. Come and join us for a single event, a whole day or the entire time. No RSVP is required, so feel free to just show up and have some fun! We all share the common bond of a love of Disney. Come meet the friends you already have but don't know yet. The 2012 meets will run from Friday, December 7th to Monday, December 10th - rain or shine but pray for shine. ;-)

RADP ANIMAL KINGDOM DAY

Everest Fastpass 9:00am @ Animal Kingdom Attention explorers! If you plan on riding during our 10:30am Expedition Everest meet, make sure to head directly to Expedition Everest and pick up a Fastpass before going to the safari meet!

Kiliminjaro Safari Meet 9:30am @ Animal Kingdom Location: Meet to the left of the Kilimanjaro Safari entrance Hosts: Sean & Pam To kick off our 17th annual RADP Holiday Meet, we're going on a safari through the African savannah of Disney's Animal Kingdom! Our wildlife reserve tour gathers at 9:30am, just to the left of the main entrance of Kilimanjaro Safaris. The elephants and warthogs aren't the only wildlife we're likely to see on this RADP adventure! Be prepared to reunite with old friends and make some new ones as we say "Jambo!" to our 17th annual meet!

Expedition Everest Meet 10:30am @ Animal Kingdom Location: Meet across from entrance Hosted by: Carol It's time to climb, twist, turn and drop our way through the Forbidden Mountain on our way to Mount Everest! During last year's 2011 Expedition Everest meet, RADP was unfortunately stalked throughout the ride by a frightening yeti. Though they were extremely frightened, the intrepid adventurers made it out safely. We would once again like to apologize for this safety oversight and assure all meet attendees that the same type of incident will almost certainly not happen during the 2012 meet. Right?

Festival of the Lion King 1:00pm @ Animal Kingdom Meet near the attraction sign in front Hosts: Bruce and Jack Come experience the pageantry and tribal rhythms of Festival of the Lion King with RADP! Please meet in the area just past the stroller parking area for this colorful and energetic interactive show. Due to the popularity of this show, please plan to arrive promptly at 12:30, we so can be assured to get into the 1:00 show.

Dinosaur Meet 2:30pm @ Animal Kingdom Meet just outside the entrance Host: Jan Listen up! We're taking a hair raising trip back in time to the Cretaceous period aboard Dinosaur! We will be meeting at 2:30pm at the main Dinosaur entrance, just in front of the Aladar dinosaur statue. Bring your sense of adventure and be prepared for "dark places and scary dinosaurs!"

Dawa Gift Fight 3:15pm @ Animal Kingdom Meet at the Dawa Bar Host: Julie Christmas is just around the corner, so we're sharing a bit of holiday cheer with each other. In order to participate, please bring a wrapped or bagged $5 gift (it can be a nice gift, or a silly gag gift) and get ready to trade those gifts "Bad Santa" style! The Dawa Bar will be nearby if you would like a drink, and the parade will be cheerfully passing by in the background as well. Last year's gift exchange meet was a blast, so don't miss your chance to join in the fun this year!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8th, 2012
RADP EPCOT DAY

Get Test Track FastPass 9:00am @ Epcot Attention test dummies! If you plan on riding during our 10:30am Test Track meet, make sure to head directly to Test Track and pick up a Fastpass before going to the Soarin' meet!

Soarin' Meet 9:15am @ Epcot Location: Meet at the main entrance of The Land Hosted by: Laurie Rise and shine! And get ready for an awe inspiring flight above the Golden State on Soarin' with the RADP crew! At 9:15am (or as soon as everyone can get to the Land after park opening), we will meet at the main entrance of the pavilion, and as soon as our flight crew is assembled, we'll take flight!

Test Track Meet 10:30am @ Epcot Meet just outside the queue Host: Carol We're having an extreme meet at Epcot's first extreme adventure ride! We're handing tight turns, rough road surfaces, corrosive conditions, and ending the meet with a 64.8 mile per hour trip around Future World! In order to ride during this meet, please ensure that you have a FastPass with a return time that includes 10:30am.

The "Tutto Gusto Adult Beverage Meet" 12:00pm @ Epcot Meet at Tutto Gusto wine cellar in Italy Hosted by: Catherine Buongiorno! It's time for a tasty Italian treat at our first ever Tutto Gusto wine cellar meet. You can cozy up by the fireplace with a glass of your favorite wine, a refreshing beer or a savory snack, all while enjoying the company of your RADP friends! Seating is first come, first served, so please try to be prompt for this meet so everyone can sit together!

The 15th Annual RADP Big Meet and Greet 1:30pm @ Epcot Location: Just outside the International Gateway turnstiles Hosted by: RADP We're celebrating seventeen fabulous years of good friends, good memories and good times at the 17th annual RADP Big Meet and Greet. This is the one time of the year where you can see all your RADP friends all together in one place, at one time! If you're new to RADP, this is an excellent chance for you to meet the family, and if you're a long time member, you'll have a great time catching up with all your friends. The meet lasts until everyone decides to leave, which is usually at least an hour! Park admission is NOT required for this meet.

Innoventions Meet 5:00pm @ Epcot Meet inside Club Cool Host: John The future is here, and we're going to take a moment to play with the future of technology in Innoventions! We'll meet at 5:00pm in Club Cool for a tasty drink, then follow the leader (John) around Innoventions, taking in the sights and experiences of the area!

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9th, 2012
RADP MAGIC KINGDOM DAY

Bakery Breakfast 9:10am @ Magic Kingdom Meet in the seating area across from Plaza Restaurant Hosts: Charlotte, Jan Meet in the seating area across from Plaza Restaurant If a gooey, sticky cinnamon roll first thing in the morning is right up your alley, then join the RADP crew for breakfast at the Main Street Bakery! Feel free to pick up your breakfast, then grab a table with us in the seating area in front of the Plaza Restaurant. A sweet breakfast with good company would be a perfect pit stop before our Splash and Big Thunder Meet!

Mountains Meet 10:30am @ Magic Kingdom Grab a fast pass for BTMRR and meet near fast pass machines Hosted by: Jan & Charlotte For the 16th year in a row, RADP will launch a full-scale takeover of both Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. At 10:30am, we'll board Splash Mountain en masse, and once we're nice and wet, we'll take a ride on Big Thunder for a spin dry! This is traditionally a very popular meet, and would be a great chance for newcomers to meet the RADP family! When you arrive, make sure to grab a Fastpass for Big Thunder before heading off to meet the rest of the group near the Splash Mountain entrance. This is traditionally a very popular meet, so don't be late, or Brer Fox might throw you into the briar patch!

Haunted Mansion Roulette 12:00pm @ Magic Kingdom Meet outside Columbia Harbor House Hosted by: Catherine Ready for a friendly wager? Then join RADP for our second Haunted Mansion Roulette meet! At 12:00 noon, we will be assembling outside the Columbia Harbor House. Then everyone will get to place their bets on what show scene the meet host will be stuck in when Haunted Mansion stops during our ride. Then we'll ride, and if the ride stops or even if it doesn't, you could be the winner of a prize! It will be just like Las Vegas, only completely different! (And not involving real money!)

Carousel of Progress Meet 1:00pm @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet in front of Carousel of Progress Hosted by: Rob There's a great big beautiful RADP meet shining at the end of Tomorrowland! At 1:00, we will take a leisurely ride through the life of an American family in this Walt Disney original ride.

Pirates and Pineapples Meet 2:30pm @ Magic Kingdom Location: Meet outside the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean Hosted by: Don Ahoy mateys! It's time for a cruise through the Caribbean, pirate style! Get ready to dodge cannonballs, traverse water falls and encounter and entire host of scurvy pirates, featuring none other than Jack Sparrow himself! Then after our cruise we'll head to the nearby Aloha Isle at 3:15pm for a cool Dole Whip and some time to relax before our Little Mermaid meet!

Little Mermaid Meet 4:00pm @ The New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Meet near the queue entrance Host: Carol Since this ride just opened as part of the New Fantasyland, we really don't know what to expect. Ride along with RADP and find out the dish on what's happening under the sea.

Nosh Around Seven Seas Lagoon 6:30pm Meet at Meet at Outer Rim Lounge in the Contemporary Resort Hosted by: Sean and Pam

MONDAY, DECEMBER 10th, 2012
RADP HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS DAY

Toy Story Mania Fastpass 9:00am @ Hollywood Studios Heads up soldiers! If you plan on riding during our 2:00pm Toy Story Mania meet, make sure to head directly to Toy Story Mania and pick up a Fastpass before going to the Rock N Roller coaster and Tower of Terror meet! NOTE: There is a chance that the time of this meet may be changed to an earlier time depending on what times most people got when they picked up their FastPass.

Rock n Roller Coaster / Tower of Terror Meet 9:30am @ Hollywood Studios Location: Meet in the Rock N Roller Coaster courtyard Hosted by: Jan and Charlotte Wake up to a thrill at our Rock 'N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror meet! We'll first meet in the Rock 'N Roller Coaster courtyard, where we will all pick up Fastpasses for a rockin' good time. Then, if you dare, you can follow the crowd through the creepy depths of the Hollywood Tower Hotel for a terrifying plunge into the Twilight Zone! Finally, we'll end up back at Rock 'N Roller Coaster for a 0-60 thrill ride through the Hollywood hills! I bet we're gonna need a super stretch!

Great Movie Ride 11:00am @ Hollywood Studios Meet behind the Hat, in front of the Great Movie Ride Host: Carol We're taking a ride into the movies! Our journey will take us through an alien invasion, and vehicle hijacking and through a room full of snakes...why did it have to be snakes?! At 11:00am, we'll meet behind the Hat, and after plenty of time to mix and mingle, we'll embark on our trip through cinematic history!

Toy Story Mania Meet 2:00pm @ Hollywood Studios Meet in front of fast pass machines Hosts: Julie Reach for the sky! And get your trigger arm ready to fire eggs, darts, pies, rings and baseballs at this fast paced, competitive meet! We'll be splitting into groups of two to determine who has the best aim in the toy box, and the winner gets bragging rights for an entire year! Arrive with your game face on, but please, no angry eyes! In order to ride during this meet, please ensure that you have a FastPass with a return time that includes 2:00pm. NOTE: There is a chance that the time of this meet may be changed to an earlier time depending on what times most people got when they picked up their FastPass.

Cupcakes and Holiday Cheer Meet 3:15pm @ Hollywood Studios Meet in The Writer's Stop Host: Sean

Star Tours Meet 4:00pm @ Hollywood Studios Meet near the entrance Host: Catherine Join us for an intergalactic voyage across the galaxy on the new and improved Star Tours - The Adventure Continues. We'll meet just to the left of the main Star Tours entrance, and once the troops are assembled, we'll head inside to take part in this battle of epic proportions! We may end up on Tatooine, Hoth, Naboo or another otherworldly location during our voyage...no one knows for sure! Light speed!

Mini Golf Meet 8:30pm @ Disney's WinterSummerland Mini Golf Course Hosted by: Sean and Pamela With the 17th annual RADP Holiday Meet coming to a close, our final hurrah will be a rousing round of mini golf at Winter Summerland! The fun begins at 8:30pm at the entrance of the Winter Summerland mini golf course, which is located adjacent to Disney's Blizzard Beach, on Buena Vista Drive. We'll chip, put and laugh our way through 18 holes of mini golf themed to either the winter or summer course. People of all ages and golfing abilities will have a great time during this mini golfing adventure meet!
