RADP XII Meet Schedule October 11 - 15, 2007

Welcome to the meet page for RADP-12, our twelfth annual meet and the first one to take place in a month other than December. We decided this time to pick a different time of year to allow our friends who for one reason or another found the December meets impossible to attend to have a chance at joining us in October. This year we give up Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in favor of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Christmas decorations for the Food & Wine Festival, and the December chill for the October warmth.

If you are new to RADP, you may be asking yourself, "What is a RADP?" RADP stands for rec.arts.disney.parks -- a Disney parks enthusiast newsgroup where folks all around the world share tips, stories and general information regarding the Disney park experience. We get together once a year to put a face to that poster/friend we met on newsgroup. New and renewed acquaintances abound every year.

There is no membership requirement. Unless noted, all of our events are free and open to Disney fans of all ages! Everyone is most welcome to attend our events. Come and join us for a single event, a whole day or the entire time. We all share the common bond of a love of Disney. Come meet the friends you already have but don't know yet. The 2007 meets will run from Friday, October 12th to Monday, October 15th - rain or shine.

RADP is an independent group of Disney fans. RADP has no official connection with any commercial enterprise or entity nor does it endorse any. RADP is not affiliated with, authorized or endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with The Walt Disney Company, Disney Enterprises, Inc., or any of their affiliates.

Host a Meet!
If you would like to host a RADP meet, we would love to add you to the schedule. No experience is necessary. Most meets will practically run themselves. You can opt to host any meet you see on the schedule that doesn't already have a host or you can come up with your very own idea for a meet. There are many rides and attractions at Walt Disney World and our schedule only touches on a small handful. If we don't have a meet at your favorite place, then host one and we'll add it to our schedule. Many of our RADP friends will attend it as well. Just send the relevant info to radp2006@radp.org . It's a great way to get to meet lots of fellow RADPers.

RADP Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Day

Second RADP Shooting Meet 10:00 am to approx 12 noon off site Note change of time and location - For the shooters in the group, a group is forming for a shoot at a local indoor range, Shooting Gallery. Even if you have never even held a gun before, you are welcome to join us. This is your chance for a safe, fun introduction to firearms. There will be a small number of pistols, in different calibers; however, you may bring your own safely operating firearm (FL law allows you to possess and transport without a special license or permit). The range does have a selection of rental guns as well, and also has a fully automatic firearm for rent for those feelinge brave. So far, there is no cost involved, but if we get a large group, participants will be asked to contribute $10-15 toward the cost of ammunition, and $8 for the range fee. Safety equipment such as eye protection and hearing protection will be provided, or you can bring your own. The range is about 20 minutes or so from Disney and we will be able to provide transportation for a limited number of people. Minimum age is 16, and must be accompanied by a parent. The venue may change to a different range if necessary. In the plaza where Shooting Gallery is located, there is a little pizza hole-in-the-wall in case we get hungry after shooting. . MNSSHP Fireworks Meet 8:45pm @ Magic Kingdom Join us as we gather to watch the fireworks at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We will meet at the Lower Rose Garden Path between Main Street and Tomorrowland (right side - near the old Swan Boat dock). Meet time will be 15 minutes before scheduled fireworks so will change if fireworks are not at 9:00 pm. Remember that MNSSHP is a hard ticket event that requires a separate ticket and is not included in regular park admission. $45.95 adult/$39.75 child plus tax day of event admission. $7 discount per ticket available for advance purchase for this date.

RADP Animal Kingdom & Epcot Day

Kiliminjaro Safari Meet 9:30am @ Animal Kingdom Our annual morning pilgrimage to wake up the wildlife. Make sure you grab a fast pass for Expedition Everest before heading to here.

2nd Annual Expedition Everest Meet 10:30am @ Animal Kingdom Join us as we go in search of the Yeti... forward and backward! If you liked Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, then you will love this! We will meet at the entrance to the queue. Make sure you grab a fast pass for this before heading to Kilimanjaro Safari.

FInding Nemo: The Musical Meet 12:00pm @ Animal Kingdom Our first time as a group to see this new show. Lines have been incredibly long so don't arrive late. We are going to see the 12:45 show (or the second one of the day). Make sure you get in line by 12:00. Host: Jenn

The Official RADP Adventurer's Club Meet
9:00pm @ Pleasure Island
Join RADP at the Adventurers Club on Pleasure Island to kick off the meet weekend! If you can only make one visit to the AC, make it tonight. Gathering area will be on the upstairs mezzanine. In addition to RADP antics, enjoy all the usual goings-on at the Club. You will need admission to Pleasure Island which is included in the Premium Annual Pass or you can use one of the plus options from a Magic Your Way Water Park Fun & More ticket or a Premium Annual Pass or costs $23.38 for a one night multi-club ticket.

Tower of Terror/Rock 'n Roller Coaster Meet 9:15am @ Disney-MGM Studios Meet in front of the fast pass area at Rock 'n Roller Coaster as close to 9:15 am as possible; park opens at 9:00. We'll grab a FastPass to RnRC before we go ride Tower of Terror. No RSVP required. Eating a very light breakfast is strongly suggested!

12th Annual RADP Big Meet and Greet 1:00 pm at Epcot's International Gateway entrance Meet up with your favorite RADP friends or make some brand new ones. This informal setting allows everyone a chance to mingle with the people whose words you read everyday on RADP. Come by for a few minutes or stay for a few hours. The choice is yours. Park admission is not required for this meet. How to get to the Int'l Gateway: Already in Epcot? Go the the Int'l Gateway area in World Showcase between the U.K. and France. Exit the turnstyles and we'll be in that general location. At the Disney Studios? Take the boat to the Epcot resorts and get off at Epcot (will be the 4th stop). Coming from other locations? Your best bet is to take a Disney bus to the Studios and then get on the boat for the Epcot resorts. If you have a Park Hopper and can walk through Epcot, you can take a monorail to Epcot and then walk to the Int'l Gateway area.

Adventurer's Club Meet
10:00pm @ Pleasure Island
You will need admission to Pleasure Island which is included in the Premium Annual Pass or you can use one of the plus options from a Magic Your Way Water Park Fun & More ticket or a Premium Annual Pass or costs $23.38 for a one night multi-club ticket.

Please note that on occasion, our meets might run a little behind timewise. We will never start a meet early but we may be running a little late on a meet now and then. If you don't see us at the appointed time, have faith. We will be along shortly.

Trails End Breakfast Meet 8:00am @ Fort Wilderness Start the day with some really good chow and a good laugh with your RADP pals Randy & the crew. Trails End is located in the Ft. Wilderness Campground next to Pioneer Hall. This is a fixed-price buffet with no Priority Seating requirements. Everyone pays their own way for this all-you-care-to-eat meal as we linger leisurely before heading over to the Magic Kingdom Mountain Meet. Cost: $11.99/adult, $7.99/child (ages 3-11); drinks not included. Prices subject to change. Host: Randy

9th Annual Frontierland Mountain Meet 10:30am @ Magic Kingdom Please meet in front of the Briar Patch Shop at Splash Mountain. Host: Jenn

Pirates of the Caribbean Meet 11:15 am or immediately following the Mountains Meet @ Adventureland Yo Ho, Yo Ho. Avast ye landlubbers. Join us as we plunder another village RADP style with Captain Jack Sparrow. The newly added enhancements are very good. See how many you can spot during the ride. Host: Mickey

Dole Whip Intermission 11:45 @ Aloha Aisle (The Dole Whip stand in Adventureland) or immediately following the PoTC Meet Join us for a cool refreshing Dole Whip immediately following the completion of the Pirates of The Carribbean Meet. Cost: $2.59-$2.99 for soft serve & floats. If you can't stand pineapple, the cost is $0.00 for some very pleasant casual conversation. Host: Caren

Jungle Cruise Meet 12:00 Noon or thereabouts @ Adventureland We'll board our vessel for our tour to many sights not often seen by mortal man. Special appearances by the back side of a waterfall and Shirley's Temple are expected. We'll be heading to the attraction immediately after the Dole Whip Intermission. Host: Mickey

Haunted Mansion Meet 2:00 pm @ Haunted Mansion Come join your Grim Grinning Host for a light hearted visit to the newly renovated 999 ex-RADPers inhabiting the Haunted Mansion. Come out and join us, bring your friends and family. There's always room FOR ONE MORE. And don't forget your death certificate. We will gather near (but not blocking) the former Fast Pass station at 2:00pm. Host: Randy

Mickey's PhilharMagic Meet 2:20 pm @ Fantasyland Join us as we watch Donald do what Donald does best ... get in trouble. But this time, he's in 3-D! A fun meet for the whole family. Host: Mickey

Campfire MiniMeeko IX 7:15pm @ Fort Wilderness - Time Change! Come one, come all to Fort Wilderness by ferry, by bus, by car, etc. It's the rec.arts.disney.parks 9th Annual Campfire MiniMeeko Meet at the Fort Wilderness Campfire Program at the campfire area near the Meadows Trading Post, this year featuring the return of Rowdy Randy! Please be aware that it may be cold and breezy. Bring your appetite for fun as we get set to toast marshmallows, sing songs with the kiddies under the stars and enjoy a Disney film the way it was meant to be -- in a family friendly atmosphere of campfire fun. Bring your hats and gloves (and your cash for hot cocoa moo if you want to purchase something from the Chuck Wagon behind the bleachers) because honestly it sometimes gets downright chilly. Campfire sing-a-long starts at 8 PM. Chip & Dale have been known to make an appearance to help up stage... er, sing with the singer and kids. In the event of rain, no movies will be shown but the sing-a-long will take place on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post. The movie is scheduled to be Cinderella. Usually there's some kind of Chip & Dale or Donald cartoon before the film. Some of the films we've seen are "Mulan" "Jungle Book" (the classic animated) "Cinderella" "Princess Diaries" or any number of films. Afterwards, we walk down to the Fort Wilderness beach to watch the Electrical Water Pageant go by. Hosts: Sean & Pamela

Soarin' Meet 9:15am @ The Land, Epcot Up, up and away we go as we take in Disney's new signature Epcot attraction. Be sure to be on time as this ride's lines will grow rapidly. Meet at the top left side of the Land's entrance.

Nosh Around The World 11:15am @ World Showcase, Epcot A new variation on the old Drink Around The World theme. This time, we're eating. Hey, it is the Food & Wine Festival, after all! Meeting place TBA. Host: Mickey

Minigolf Meet 8:30 pm @ Disney's Fantasia Gardens Course Join us Monday night for at Disney's Fantasia Gardens mini-golf for 18 whimsical holes of fun. Everyone pays their own way. Cost: $10.75/adult plus tax, $8.50/child plus tax (ages 3-9); 50% off 2nd same-day round. AP discount is 50% off for Passholder and 15% off for up to three guests playing with them. Prices subject to change. How to Get There:Disney's Fantasia Gardens is located across the street from the Swan. If taking Disney transportation, take a bus to the Swan and walk across the street. If driving, head towards MGM Studios and turn onto Epcot Resorts Boulevard (where the Swan is). Parking lot for Fantasia Gardens is the first left. Hosts: Sean & Pamela
