2nd Annual Holiday RADP Meet Weekend
December 6-7-8 1997

PLEASURE ISLAND

Saturday and Sunday nights saw the energetic members of RADP heading over to Pleasure Island to party the night away! These photos are from Karen Harland and Rob Olson and were taken on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Stories to go with the photos coming soon!

Larisa, Greg, PI Mystery Guest (who just sat down and joined the party) and Karen

Here you are a visitor to the Adventurers Club, circa 1935, and are treated as such by the resident cast of characters. You will be invited to become initiated as a member of the Club and participate in the various club activities that are being held that evening.

The slightly off-center Club Curator, Fletcher is the voice of authority regarding the Clubs eclectic artifact collection. Fletcher charms Larisa and Jim.

And then wooes everyone with his music....Chad, Sam, Karen, Larisa and Fletcher

The Mask Room is a cozy alcove just off the Main Salon which serves as the repository for the Club's extensive collection of rare and unusual native masks collected from around the world. And, in the best Disney tradition, these masks have an attitude! At four different times throughout the evening, you will be invited in to mingle with the masks. Seated here in the Mask Room at the Adventurer's Club is Sam, Kenny, KidGenie, Larisa, PI Mystery Guest and Karen. (Guess KidGenie didn't want his photo taken :)

Sam and Karen dance the night away at 8TRAX.

Sam, Karen and Rob enjoy some brewskis.

Can you tell this group is up late???? Sam, Larisa, KidGenie, Jenn, Karen and Kenny

On Monday evening...a group gathered at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

Actually, gardenia and I met Andrea, Paul and Holly McKenna for an early dinner at Tony's Town Square in the Magic Kingdom. I have never been before and so was excited about the opportunity.

During dinner, Paul and Holly re-enacted a scene from Lady and the Tramp (who Tony's is named after).

During dinner Paul went over to City Hall to buy tickets for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party -- unfortunately they were all sold out. Everyone was disappointed as we were having so much fun together! Not ready to give up yet; after dinner we all exited the Magic Kingdom and were looking for people who were buying tickets. Turns out that when Paul went to City Hall tickets WERE still available from Guest Services and so he found a wonderful CM (thank you!) who talked with a supervisor and was able to get tickets for the McKenna's! DISNEY MAGIC!

The standard MVMCP RADP meet is 15 minutes before the fireworks at the Liberty Bell. Andrea, gardenia and I watched the parade while Paul and Holly did some rides. As it turned out, by the time the parade was over, the fireworks were only 20 minutes away. So we gathered here and soon there was a whole new crowd of RADP'rs.

Norm writes: Many of us met up again in the next evening at MVMCP in time for the fireworks. gardenia helped us avoid the lines for Splash Mountain. The numbers dwindled as we progressed to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and then Space Mountain.

Here are the Disney Geeks! And a huge RADP Meet photo! ACK! I don't remember everyone's name. Ok let's see.
First row 3 kids: Brian and Katie Spencer and ???
2nd Row: Mark Patton, Holly and Paul McKenna, Deb Wills, Chris Early (TechnoWiz)
Standing: Norm Fisher, Jeff and Susan Spencer, Andy , Andrea McKenna, Laura Gilbreath, Melanie C, Barb gardenia and Lee Zimmerman.

Everybody's Got a Laughing Place! Left to Right, Front to Back: Deb Wills, Tigger, and Laura Gilbreath; Andy and Lee, Norm and Andrea, Holly (her first Splash Ride) and Paul!

WHEEE! Here we are after the HUGE drop! Andy, Lee, Andrea and Paul!

After Splash Mountain we went on BTMRR, which is so awesome at night....then we catched a while on the bridge in Frontierland and several folks began to go their separate ways. I said goodbye to Laura and Lee...and Norm....Andy came with the rest of us to Space Mountain but waited outside with gardenia. It was Holly's first ride on Space Mountain too! She was SO Brave! After Space and some refreshments, eveyone went their separate ways and called it a night.

It was a great great time!

Many many thanks to gardenia, Meli, Karen Harland, Regina Seaner, Rob Olsan, and Laura Gilbreath for sharing photos!

By request, the 3rd Annual Holiday RADP Meet Weekend will be the December 12-13, 1998. The Fourth Annual Holiday RADP Meet Weekend will return to the first weekend in December (4th and 5th) for 1999!
